The cat in the hat Vase party deco

I promised this tutorial and I have been delaying it so much, but today woke up with the mind that I was going to finish this one, finally. I will show you how I made the Vase with the Hat on top. Keep reading for the tutorial.

For this tutorial I'm re- purposing one that I made for my home and it was really cheap less that $5 dollars. I bought all the materials at the dollar store.

This is the vase that I made. Do you want to see this tutorial? Click HERE.

For this tutorial I used:
-Decorative Vase
-Tissue paper in red
-1" polka dot turquoise ribbon
-2 wood sticks
-1" polka dot black ribbon
-1 hat (i covered mine with stripped fabric)
-3 glitter pipe cleaners in red

I started with the tissue paper making thing cuts to have this appearance. I guess you could use a paper shredding machine.

Once I had all the tissue paper shredded I put it inside the vase to add a bit of color.

Now wrap the vase with the turquoise ribbon, I choose the middle part but you can add it where you want to.

This is what it looks like.

Now is time for the mini pom poms. I made mine with this turquoise tissue paper inspired by Thing One and Thing Two hair. The first thing I did was figure out how big I wanted my pompoms and they ended up being about 5" or something similar. I can't remember the size of tissue paper I used, but I folded the paper in 4 parts and cut it. I did used about 4 to 5 sheets of paper.

Then I folded all the layers of paper like this about 1/2".

Tied them in the middle to secure them.

And cut the ends in this pointy shape to make them look a bit crazy. After that all you have to do it open the pom pom really careful not to brake them. If you want to see how I make my pom poms check this tutorial HERE.

Once you have your mini pom poms find the wire or whatever you used to secure them and use it to secure it to one of sticks. Cover the stick with the pipe cleaners to make it look more cute.

Put the pom pom with the stick peeking out from the vase. I did used a dot of glue to secure it better.

Next add the hat, use the other stick to make it look like is going the opposite side than the pom pom.

And this is what it looks like, hope this helped and happy party planning, xoxo.
