Holidays.. there is something I love about them and that is how we all get together to make delicious meals and drinks to hang out and enjoy them. Once of the ones that I recently started falling for is the cookie champurrado, it is warm and so flavorful.. besides has chocolate which makes it perfect.
So in our house it's an every year tradition to have this made for dessert after holiday dinner, specially for those really cold nights. Making it it's a family tradition and we all participate in it.
-1 box of Cookies (Marias)
-5-6 Chocolate Bars (abuelita) more or less to taste
-1 tbsp cloves
-4 Cinnamon sticks
-2 gallons of whole milk
-1 can of evaporated milk carnation
-1/2 cup of cocoa
Quantities can be modified if you like it with less chocolate or sweetness.
To make this delicious drink, you are going to start by boiling some water with the cloves, cinnamon sticks and piloncillo. Meanwhile start breaking the cookies in the blender with the evaporated milk. Keep doing this until you have a good amount of the mix and in one of the last ones you make add the cocoa.
In the blender add some of the whole milk or evaporated milk and add the chocolate bars, blend until you have a even mix.
With a strainer strain the water that contains the cloves until it's just liquid. Now add the mix with chocolate and cookies. Keep mixing for a while no stop so it doesn't burn.
Here is the video of how it's made.
