Branch, Trolls Costume Tutorial

My oldest son loves watching movies and one of the ones that are usually very popular during movie night is Trolls, and to be completely honest I love the movie too. The message how it inspires you to look more than what you have to achieve happiness plants a great message for young kids minds.
Also the music how colorful it is just fun, fun, fun!

Keep reading for the tutorial.

As a result when I asked my son what he wanted for a theme for his birthday he quickly said Trolls! I love the idea and he had this school dance where they were going to dance hair up from trolls so he wanted to go dressed and one. So I saw the opportunity to make him a costume that could work for Halloween, his birthday and the dance.

It was so easy and inexpensive to make this costume, I headed to the store and grabbed a teal shirt, khaki shorts a couple pieces of felt and thread.

The first thing I did was make a vest with the pieces of dark green felt. I used 4 pieces for my son (he is size 8) and it seemed to fit just right.
Once I had the vest all ready I cut out pieces of felt to create leaves that I sew all around starting from the bottom (believes me it makes it easier). If you don't have a sewing machine you can still make this costume by just gluing the leaves to the vest.
The whole process took me about and hour or so, but I am guessing using glue would speed things up specially if you use hot glue.

The costume wouldn't be complete until he had this hug bracelet that they use in the movie. I didn't use any pattern I just cut a flower I wanted a rustic look on them.

I think it turned out pretty cute and he liked it, so score!

Here is the video of how I made this costume.

Hope it can helps you make your child as mine was with his costume.

Thanks for reading my blog.
